The Beginning of our Coursework

On Tuesday 25th September we were put into our coursework groups. Our coursework is to create the opening two minutes of a thriller movie. Once being put into our coursework groups we had to decide how we were going to start our coursework and what each one of us was going to do for the first step. We decided as a group that we should start by researching  the thriller genre, the conventions of a thriller and the technical codes of previous thriller films and how they have changed. We also research the BBFC. Here we could find out what is included in a 15 and 18 and what is an isn't acceptable. By looking at previous thrillers would give us an insight of the conventions that are included the opening two minutes and will give us an idea of the sort of aspects that we should think about as well as our own ideas. We then bought all of this research today on our lesson on the Thursdy and fed back to the group individually what we had found out and how we could move on from here.

On Thursday 27th September we fed back what we had found out to each other so that we were all up-to date in terms of where we were in the aspects of research. After feeding back to the group we found that we hadn't done enough research into the genre of a thriller, the conventions and previous thrillers out there. This is when we decided that we should research more into these categories before we continued. We made a group decision to do this so that we would feel comfortable with the amount of research that we would then have so that we could then research the next aspects. Here are the primary research topics:

After deciding upon this decision I was now researching further into the genre of a thriller and the conventions of codes of a thriller. To do this I researched into what previous thrillers have included in terms of the conventions and codes and how we could incorporate these into ours. This will help us decided the conventions and codes what we are going to include. Once we have finished collecting this information we can then move onto researching the next few aspects.

  1. Alice what i need from you is more of a reflection and evaluation of this than what you did in terms of what you researched...in your blog entry you have to be more clear as to what you have learned. Come and see me so I can review this with you. Look at past examples of students' work!
